McGonigal, K. (2015). The Upside Of Stress: Why Stress Is Good For You, And How To Get Good At It.
This is a must read!!! McGonigal has a highly engaging and approachable writing style that does not overwhelm the reader with a lot of scientific jargon. She briefly chronicles the history of research on "stress," but demonstrates that these early research attempts were studying something more in line with torture, hence giving everyday stress a bad name. She then outlines specific ways that stress should be reconsidered, even embraced, as a useful resource.
